Hampshire is home to a wide variety of musicians from pop princes Craig David and Matt Cardle to indie troubadour Frank Turner, who perhaps sums up the eclectic musical output as a former punk turned folk singer-songwriter. Hampshire has produced musicians across all musical genres including celebrated cellist Jennifer Ward Clarke, top 40 hit factory from the 1980’s Howard Jones and Grammy award winning indie-pop singer, Foxes.
At more than 1,400 square miles, Hampshire has plenty of space for hosting music festivals and events. Boomtown is one of its largest with over 30 stages celebrating music from every musical genre, Victorious is a family friendly music festival that takes place over the August bank holiday on the Southsea Seafront, the beautiful Grange Park Opera hosts The Grange Festival series of world-class opera performances in the heart of Hampshire and Wickham Festival ticks the boutique box winning ‘Best UK Festival, cap. under 15000’ at the Live UK Music Business Awards in October 2015.
Hampshire is not short of music venues with The Joiners, The Wedgewood Rooms and The West End Centre hosting smaller music events in Southampton, Southsea and Aldershot and the Pyramids Centre and Portsmouth Guildhall catering to audiences of up to 1,250 & 2,500.

How much space will they need?
The table below shows approximately how much space wedding bands of different sizes require:
Size of Wedding Band | Performance Space Required |
---|---|
3-piece band | 3 x 3 metres |
4-piece band | 4 x 3 metres |
5 and 6-piece band | 5 x 3 metres |
7-piece band and bigger | 5/6 x 4 metres |
How long will they take to set up & soundcheck?
Depending how close to the performance space a wedding band can park, unloading, setting up and performing their sound-check will take around 60 – 90 minutes.
Some busy city hotels require bands to load in via a supplier’s entrance, using a shared staff elevator, which can increase set up times.
Following their performance, it takes around 45 – 60 minutes to pack down and load out.
How long is a typical wedding band set list?
Our bands usually offer two 60-minute performances, though many can perform for longer if needed. You could spread out a two-hour performance by splitting it into three 40-minute sets. Most bands are flexible to fit in with your evening, and will usually take a break of around 15 minutes between sets, during which time they will provide background music from an MP3 player or laptop.
If providing the evening entertainment, a wedding band would typically arrive at 6pm, get set up and perform that all-important sound check by 7.30pm to 8pm, get changed and ready to start the first performance by around 9pm. The second performance would then start around 10.30pm, until a normal curfew of midnight. Many wedding bands offer longer performances or DJ sets at an additional cost, including finishing times of 1am and 2am. You can find the booking options on each wedding band’s profile page. These times serve as an example – the band will always liaise with you and will tailor what they are doing on the night to your particular needs.

"Great performance, had everyone dancing."
They performed at our wedding in December, all our guests commented on how good the band was. They definitely made a difference to the night. Perfect for a small/medium size venue, created an amazing atmosphere. The guys were easy to get along with and very easy to deal with on the lead up to the day. I would definitely recommended The Good Habits to anyone considering booking them.

Everyone was dancing and the guests all said they had a great night. Perfect for what we wanted and made our wedding day complete. Thank you Hit factory Nigel and Luisa x
"Make sure you book now before its to late. Don't miss out!!!"
We had the pleasure of having Hit factory play at our wedding. They were absolutely brilliant, Molly's voice is very, very good. They played a really upbeat set that got everyone up on their feet. Our guests were very impressed and was asking who they were. Lots of our friends & family complimented us on having the band. I would encourage anyone thinking about having Molly and the band play to make sure you book now before its to late. Don't miss out !!!Phil & Tina Tanner
"The best wedding band, would give 10 stars if we could!"
We were reluctant to have a band for the evening reception of our wedding but when we saw these guys a year before we just had to have them. They were professional and easy to deal with from the initial contact a few weeks before through to them leaving after the event. They turned up on time and set up discreetly without getting in the way of any guests. We had asked them to run the night for us, introduce cake cutting, first dance etc and they did this brilliantly and had everything under control. We were nervous about not having too much choice in their set list but we should have had more faith as they read the room and had people up dancing all night. The lead singer comes out into the crowd, walks around the room, gets people up. They are all clearly very talented musicians and people haven't stopped talking about how good they were and the wedding was 2 weeks ago! Thoroughly recommend The Modern Way, really great guys, great band and a pleasure to have them play at our wedding!

Hello Mike, I just wanted to say you were fabulous last night! Everyone really enjoyed it! Thank you so much for being apart of our special day. Kirsty
"A really fun and slick band. A great way to end the day."
Thanks so much to Season. We had such a good time dancing with our guests and the band sounded great. They played the right songs at the right time and even changed it up a bit at the end at the request of some guests which went down really well.
