Contrajazz are a fresh new and dynamic Jazz Combination that play a wide range of music from Broadway to Rat Pack to Swing. Much of their unique sound comes from the soaring jazz violin reminiscent of Stephane Grappelli. They will carefully and lovingly give each song is given its own specialtreatment adapt it to their own unique instrumentation and style while endeavouring to retain its original charm and appeal.

Every member of contrajazz is a professional musician, bringing a wealth of experience to every engagement played. Over the last year they have played weddings, corporate shows, black tie parties, bond Shows and university balls. They are very flexible with set lists, dress codes, special requests and playing times and they will do their utmost to ensure your event is a complete success.

The band are all seasoned and experienced musicians with years of experience - every member of Contrajazz makes a living from playing and teaching music.

To all the guys in CONTRAJAZZ, I'd just like to say a HUGE thank you for playing at our wedding on Valentines' Day 2010. We found out about you via your website so knew you played wonderful swing / ratpack songs, but didn't realise what a fantastic presence you would have at the celebrations.You created a perfect atmosphere, initially by doing songs for the children to dance to or join in with, and then later played such a perfect combination of music that most couples enjoyed a smoochy dance without a second thought! Thank you once again, I hope we get chance to have another party so we can see you all again!

"I just wanted to thank you for helping to make my party at Barley Hall in York on Saturday such a huge success! Everyone thought you played brilliantly and that you were very professional. Vicky has a fabulous voice and the music was exactly what I wanted for the occasion and the venue. You helped create the perfect atmosphere to get everyone up and dancing, which was fantastic.

Your flexibility and ability to play requests is a real asset and reflects on the individual talents of the band members and your abiliy to work together so well. I would second a comment from one of your earlier reviews in that I was really relieved and so lucky that a band I had just picked off the internet turned out to be so professional, pleasant and frankly exactly what I wanted. I can't thank you enough and I'm so pleased I found you.

I'm on a charity committee and I'm sure that we will want to use you at a future fundraising event. I just hope you won't be booked up!
