“These guy's are fantastic! We booked Happy Hour for our Wedding as we didn't want a DJ (say no to Cheesy music). The Sets were brilliant cater for the older crowd to start (50's 60's) stuff and progressed onto more current day, everyone had a great evening, friends are still commenting what a good night they had. Platinum Gold were absolutely fantastic. The band were technically superb and they performed everything from some jazz at the drinks reception , to traditional Israeli dance music and Rock and Roll after dinner. They exuded personality and got all of the guests up and involved in the music. They absolutely filled the dance floor from start to end and everyone raved about them. Nothing was too much trouble for the band, and they even made it possible for my Son and I to play a couple of numbers with them. “When we were choosing a wedding band for our special day we listened to literally hours of samples and read many, many playlists but could not find that anyone who felt right. The playlists were too twee, too narrow or just plain hideous. The samples we listened too also did not contain that certain something, that pizzazz that would make our day and in the worst cases perhaps the bands had chosen...”“When we were choosing a wedding band for our special day we listened to literally hours of samples and read many, many playlists but could not find that anyone who felt right. The playlists were too twee, too narrow or just plain hideous. The samples we listened too also did not contain that certain something, that pizzazz that would make our day and in the worst cases perhaps the bands had chosen the wrong career. That all changed when we heard Happy Hour. We knew right away that this was the special band that could add to the magic of our wedding day and Happy Hour didn’t let us down. Happy Hour have an aura about them that dispels them from sounding like any of the more traditional wedding bands who play the same old dull tunes. They were really friendly and approachable in discussing the playlist, willing to learn some new songs that we really wanted played, which gave us a feeling of inclusion and made us feel like our wedding was the greatest of all, putting all the previous high profile weddings to shame. Its personal touches like this that can really distinguish a band you think were okay and wouldn’t think about again to a band you would be happy to recommend in the future. Keep this up! Happy Hour even went the extra mile to make sure the occasional was extra special. Let me explain how they did this; I wanted to give a special gift to the father of the bride for saying “yes” when I asked if I could marry his daughter. Purely by chance I heard a song on the radio that I thought would be great if it was played during the traditional brides dance with her father. The song was “Stealing Cinderella” by Chuck Wicks and I suddenly thought that it would be an excellent gift if I performed it live for them. I discussed this with Richie from the band who thought this was a great idea and promptly set up rehearsals so that the lads were prepared. Alas, the band lives in the south and I am in the top end of Northumberland so rehearsals including me were not going to happen. Using Richies excellent idea of harnessing the power of YouTube to make sure both myself and the band were singing from the same songsheet, I would perform with the band for the first time live on the night. This must be daunting for a professional singer, never mind a pure amateur! Happy Hour were consummate professionals though and on the night the song went very smoothly, the band working to my singing cues to make both the bride and her dad very happy (and emotional) indeed. And after listening to testimonials from the guests, the band even managed to make me sound good. Well done lads as this clearly was an awesome feat! On our perfect day, Happy Hour were the perfect compliment.They performed songs that we wanted to hear and really ensured that everyone enjoyed themselves. Thank you for being part of our day. Our initial fears were that the music would not be to all of our guests tastes but Ian from the band re-assured me that all ages would be up dancing and he was exactly right! I would say that if you are looking for a polished live rock/pop band then you shouldn't look any further than Effigy as they definitely made our evening. They did an amazing job with the feel of the song, intro, outro, tempo and everything else which made the first dance go perfectly. For the rest of the night they filled the dance floor with a great mix of songs from Green Day to The Beatles which all felt that they belonged togther and everybody loved to dance to. They interacted with our guests from the stage and really became part of the evening. Some of the band were even persuaded on to the dancefloor after they had finished for the night.
