The cost of wedding bands varies, depending on the line-up, and the options each band offers. In the last 12 months, the average price of a 5-piece band is around £1,600.

Booking a band who are local to your venue is a great way to reduce cost, as any travel fees will be minimal. The home town of all Alive Network wedding bands are included on their profile pages, and your Entertainment Coordinator can recommend the best bands near to your venue. However, you don’t need to limit your search to just local bands – your perfect band maybe willing to travel at nominal cost!

Depending how close to the performance space a wedding band can park, unloading, setting up and performing their sound-check will take around 60 – 90 minutes.

Some busy city hotels require bands to load in via a supplier’s entrance, using a shared staff elevator, which can increase set up times.

Following their performance, it takes around 45 – 60 minutes to pack down and load out.

How long is a typical wedding band set list?

Our bands usually offer two 60-minute performances, though many can perform for longer if needed. You could spread out a two-hour performance by splitting it into three 40-minute sets. Most bands are flexible to fit in with your evening, and will usually take a break of around 15 minutes between sets, during which time they will provide background music from an MP3 player or laptop.

If providing the evening entertainment, a wedding band would typically arrive at 6pm, get set up and perform that all-important sound check by 7.30pm to 8pm, get changed and ready to start the first performance by around 9pm. The second performance would then start around 10.30pm, until a normal curfew of midnight. Many wedding bands offer longer performances or DJ sets at an additional cost, including finishing times of 1am and 2am. You can find the booking options on each wedding band’s profile page. These times serve as an example – the band will always liaise with you and will tailor what they are doing on the night to your particular needs.

Couldn't recommend this band more for a wedding! Music to appeal to all ages, and with a fun lively twist that had everyone dancing. The three sets were all slightly different. By the final set, they had everyone jumping in the air! Good communication from beginning to end, couldnt ask for more. So many people commented how good they were... Just amazing!!

Honestly the best band we could have ever hoped for!! Breakthrough sounded amazing, played the most incredible songs, started both a dance and sing off between guests (which they loved!) and ensured that the dance floor was packed at all times. Genuinely lovely guys as well, they even played a couple extra songs for us after their allotted time which made our night even better! Could not have been happier to have lost our previous band and found these guys!

Tritts and the Numbers are the best wedding band around by such a long way (we've seen a few recently haha). We knew that from the moment we saw the page. Their party repertoire is so unique and varied compared to other bands and we absolutely loved the twist of pop bangers such as tubthumping and junior senior mixed in with older classics. Then the trance outro was the best thing we've ever seen. Was so fun knowing it was coming and seeing the look on our friends' faces was priceless. Adding to this was their professionalism, not just on the instruments which is clear to see, but in their setup, timing and communication which made preparing for the event a pleasure. To top everything off they were so kind, relaxed and fun on the day. Obliging us with a last minute request to reunite our old teenage band on their instruments was so appreciated and provided us with another golden moment of the weekend. Cannot recommend highly enough. A million thank yous. Everyone else should stop looking for a wedding band NOW and book Tritts and the Numbers.

Massive Thank you to Alpha, they were fab and really made our wedding reception what we had hoped for. They played a great range of music from all the eras which meant all our wedding guests were catered for. There was a great atmosphere on the dance floor all night. Even the restaurant attached to our venue commented on how good the entertainment was, guests had been asking to be sat on the terrace so they could hear the music whilst they ate. I would highly recommend Alpha, they created a great party atmosphere and kept our guests entertained for the whole duration. "
