James Alexander

James Alexander is an experienced singer-songwriter & guitarist with a friendly and professional nature, he provides acoustic music for weddings & events across the UK.

His soulful vocals & intricate acoustic guitar style derive from influences of contemporary Singer-Songwriters, Soul, Motown, Rock and Blues. Aged 18, he won a global Yamaha guitar scholarship & endorsement and trained at The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance. In London, James spent 7 years performing on the singer-songwriter circuit, and played regularly at the Hilton Park Lane hotel. Playing at famous venues such as The Bedford in Balham where Ed Sheeran made his debut, James received recognition from Sony Music & Peer Music Publishing. He supported X Factor contestants such as Rebecca Ferguson and shared the stage with established artists including James Bay.

Since resettling in sunny Bournemouth, James has performed at 100's of weddings and events throughout the UK and overseas. Alongside performing, James shares his love for music as a guitar teacher to aspiring young musicians and works as a songwriter. Most recently, James is working on his own studio album which feature-tracks have been shaped by Grammy Award winner Dom Morley (Amy Winehouse - Back to Black) and has received recognition from Metropolis Studios in London who featured 'Troubled Water' as a one of their song highlights of the week in June 2022.

James’ eclectic list of cover songs have been highly celebrated by previous clients, from modern Acoustic Pop to Country, Rock, Soul and Motown his repertoire appeals to a range of guests. Whether it’s turning an upbeat song into a romantic ballad or a rock classic into a toe tapping acoustic pop song; James enjoys putting his own twist his music. With the addition of a loop pedal, vocal harmonies, and melodic guitar solos, his performances are truly captivating.

James makes each booking a straightforward and enjoyable experience; previous clients have praised his professional and relaxed character. He enjoys creating a personalised experience that is tailored to his client’s vision & enjoys meeting with clients (in person over coffee or via Zoom) to discuss song choices and ensure every detail is tailored for. James offers a flexible approach to bookings; packages can be fully customised to suit your requirements. Some packages include song requests which can personally arranged to meet the clients wishes. On the day, James will turn up at least 1 hour prior to his performance and set up in a pre-arranged location. He will liaise with the venue staff and registrars to ensure smooth running of his performance. His equipment will be set up and sound checked to achieve the correct volume and sound and he will be ready to play at least 15 minutes before his performance starts.
