Barrie Sax is a highly experienced professional saxophonist with over 30 years in the industry, firmly rooted in the jazz and popular music scene. He trained at the City of Leeds College of Music for three years, during which time he was already performing at a semi-professional level. Following his graduation, Barrie transitioned into full-time performance, embarking on a career that has taken him across the globe, regularly appearing at high-profile events.
Throughout his career, Barrie has performed at some of the world’s most prestigious venues both as a band member and as a featured soloist, including appearances at the Royal Albert Hall in London. He has had the privilege of sharing the stage with renowned artists such as Alfie Boe, Gary Barlow, Katherine Jenkins, Ed Sheeran, and Shirley Bassey.
His performance experience ranges from intimate jazz ensembles for the Royal Family at Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle, to large-scale orchestral performances for major televised events.
Now focusing primarily on his work as a soloist, Barrie specialises in the Ibiza-style dance saxophone sound. However, his versatility allows him to seamlessly deliver jazz, pop, and easy listening performances to suit a wide variety of venues and client needs.
Barrie is in high demand for weddings, offering tailored packages that cover everything from ceremony and drinks reception music to high-energy Ibiza-style sets for evening celebrations. He is also a trusted performer for leading corporate brands, including BMW, who have engaged him for multiple new car launches. In addition, he regularly performs in vibrant nightlife settings, bringing dance and house music to packed venues such as The Temple in Doncaster, where he continues to hold repeat bookings.
