Full Biography
The Scottish String Quartet have performed in a wide range of venues both in Edinburgh e.g. - The National Museum of Scotland, Edinburgh Castle, Signet Library, The Assembly Rooms, Old College Library, The Scottish Parliament, House for an Art Lover, National Gallery, National Portrait Gallery and various hotels and also as far afield as Gleneagles, Turnberry, St Andrews, Aberdeen, Aviemore, Stirling Castle, Glamis Castle, Balbirnie House, Torphichen Preceptory, Tantallon Castle and Liverpool.
Their repertoire is very flexible, ranging from Scott Joplin and popular music of the 1920's and 30's, and music by classical composers such as Bach, Mozart and Vivaldi to contemporary pop. They can arrange music specifically for you (hymns and one arrangement usually provided free of charge).

Alternative groups available:-
THE SCOTTISH FLUTE QUARTET (flute, violin, viola and cello) is an alternative ensemble to the string quartet. They play mostly baroque and classical music.
THE SCOTTISH BAROQUE ENSEMBLE consists of two violins, cello and harpsichord. They play music by well-known composers such as Bach, Handel and Vivaldi, and also 18th century Scottish composers. They also perform as a trio (2 violins & cello; OR flute, violin & cello; OR 2 violins and harpsichord; OR flute, violin & harpsichord) or as a six-piece group with the addition of flute and viola.
THE SCOTTISH PIANO TRIO has a similar repertoire to that of THE EDINBURGH STRING ENSEMBLE. They require a venue with a good piano.
THE SCOTTISH STRING TRIO consists of two violins and cello and plays mainly baroque music by Vivaldi, Bach, Handel and 18th century Scottish composers.
THE SCOTTISH PIANO & VIOLIN DUO - Violin and piano duo - a wide range of music similar to that of Capriccio Quartet.
THE SCOTTISH HARPSICHORD & VIOLIN DUO - Violin and harpsichord duo - playing mainly baroque music.
THE SCOTTISH GUITAR & VIOLIN DUO - Violin and guitar duo - classical and modern music (also mandolin).
GLADSTONE'S BAG specialises in the performance of music from the Victorian era, and theme music and signature tunes from the Golden Age of Wireless. The group consists of flute, clarinet, violin and piano.
COOL CAPRICE - Violin, piano and jazz bass - music from the 1920's, 30's and 40's with a hint of jazz.
CELTIC CAPRICE - Trio playing fiddle, mandolin, accordion, guitar, cello, keyboard etc. - Scottish music for background entertainment.
