Full Biography

Stylus are a high-energy, DJ-led live trio featuring DJ, sax and percussion.

Known for blending a modern dancefloor sound with huge sax solos and Latin-influenced live percussion, Stylus have spent years doing what they love – getting onto dance floors and creating a proper party.

At the centre of the trio is DJ Markus, who has been behind the decks for almost 15 years and has performed at hundreds of weddings, parties and corporate events across the UK and internationally.

He's played everything from intimate celebrations to some of the UK's most prestigious venues, celebrity parties and destination events across Europe and further afield. Along the way he's written music for television, been signed to two major record labels, toured Europe and spent his entire working life in and around the music industry.

A multi-instrumentalist himself, Markus has always loved the point where DJing and live musicianship come together – which is really where the idea for Stylus began in the first place.

The Stylus Musicians

Stylus has developed over the years and today Markus works with a small, hand-picked collective of trusted professional saxophonists and percussionists rather than one fixed line-up.

These aren't musicians booked at random for each event. They're carefully selected go-to players, chosen not only because they're brilliant musicians, but for their professionalism, experience, stage presence and ability to perform alongside a DJ and genuinely connect with a crowd.

Between them, Stylus musicians have performed and toured with major international artists, appeared on recordings and stages around the world and worked at the highest levels of the music and events industries.

The faces might occasionally change, but the standard never does.

What Do Stylus Play?

House music and Ibiza classics are part of the Stylus DNA, but they're certainly not limited to them.

A Stylus set can move through disco, funk, soulful house, Ibiza classics, commercial dance, remixes and huge party tracks, with Markus reading the room and adapting the music as the night unfolds.

That's important to us. We don't turn up with a rigid set list and play exactly the same show regardless of who's standing in front of us.

Some crowds want wall-to-wall house. Others want a journey through disco and funk into commercial dance and Ibiza classics. Sometimes the sax player is performing right in the middle of the dance floor while the percussionist is driving the track from the stage.

That's when Stylus really comes to life.

International Experience

Stylus have performed throughout the UK and internationally, from Kuwait to the Amalfi Coast, the Balearics to Monaco, playing destination weddings, corporate events, private parties and celebrity celebrations.

Whether we're flying overseas for a destination event or playing a wedding closer to home, the aim remains the same – read the crowd, bring the energy and create a brilliant dance floor.

How Does It Work?

The classic Stylus line-up is:

DJ + Sax + Percussion

Markus DJs throughout the evening, with sax and percussion joining him for high-energy live sets across the night.

(Stylus can also perform as a DJ + Sax or DJ + Percussion duo, or the line-up can be expanded with additional musicians, vocalists, dancers and performers to create an even bigger live show).

A typical booking includes a 4-hour DJ set, interspersed with either 3 x 30-minute or 2 x 45-minute live sets, although timings and line-ups can be tailored to suit the event.

The musicians don't simply perform a rehearsed set over backing tracks. They play and improvise alongside the DJ, responding to the music and the crowd, which means no two Stylus performances are ever quite the same.

Stylus can also provide the complete setup, including professional sound system, DJ booth, lighting and backline where required – making Stylus a one-stop entertainment package for your event.
