Established in 1994 Henry Marten’s Ghost has graced festival stages across the UK and Europe. They have played more than 2000 gigs at events ranging from weddings, corporate functions and sporting events. They are very entertaining and at a time when Irish roots music is popular they are in constant demand.
Their musicianship is nothing short of spectacular. They have played with the Fureys, the Dubliners and the Wolfetones. So if you like these bands you’ll certainly like Henry Marten’s Ghost!
The band performs in various formats from a 2/3/4 piece up to a seven piece with dancers performing a Riverdance style show. The dancers wear modern costume and dance to live and recorded music. They also teach the audience the steps which are a great way to get them active and participating in a proper party mood.
The standard 3 piece lineup features is Guitar/Vocals, Whistles/melodeon and the drummer plays traditional African and Spanish hand drums called a Djembe & Cajon.
In between sets the band plays Irish CDs or clients can bring their own music to play. For the total Irish wedding experience Henry Marten’s Ghost can provide CD music of your choice or Irish music to see out the night.

“Hi Clare We've just got back from honeymoon and thought I'd drop you a line to feedback on Henry Marten's Ghost. They played two fantastic sets for us and we had guests jigging who I'm sure, didn't think they had it in them. The music did just what we hoped and that was to get everyone up and dancing. A number of our guests asked us how we found them because they thought they were brilliant. The fact that Patrick was from Belfast made it all the more relevant and special because me and my family are all from Belfast. The chat and the banter between songs was pitched perfectly and Patrick was brilliant at encouraging interaction from the dancefloor. There were also a few of my family there who now live in Canada and they very much enjoyed hearing some of the classics, reminding them of home! All in all a perfect band for our wedding and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking to have a good old knees-up. Best regards Denise ”
