Highlights
* Hugely versatile and sensitive pianist with a wealth of performance experience!
* Repertoire covering classical, film, show tunes, jazz, popular and more!
* Highly talented musician who has studied music at The Royal Welsh College Of Music and Bath Spa University College!
Currently the resident pianist at Webbington Hotel & Spa, Dan John is a hugely versatile and sensitive pianist who's friendly and professional approach, along with his extensive and bespoke repertoire, will ensure that you get the perfect mix of music for your event.
Dan can play a wide variety of music from classical, film, show tunes and jazz, to rock and pop songs (Ed Sheeran to The Darkness, Debussy to Disney and everything in between!) and can also provide light original material that can set the perfect mood.
Dan has extensive experience as a solo pianist and keyboard player. As well as his own solo piano recitals, he provides music for care homes, weddings, corporate events and functions.
Dan has a Post Graduate Diploma in Composition from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama as well as a BA (Hons) Degree in Music from Bath Spa University College.
Dan has his own full-size stage piano and PA gear if there is no piano at your event or venue.
Past performance highlights include:
• St David's Hall, Cardiff - Piano recital as part of the Welsh proms
• St Donat's Arts Centre
• Porthcawl Grand Pavilion
• Monmouth Festival
• The Millennium Stadium, Cardiff,
• Cafe Jazz, Cardiff
• Celtic manor, Newport
• The Butetown Bayside Jazz Festival

• St Giles Church, Covent Garden
You can now also book Dan John as part of a piano/voice duet with Jayne on vocals.
A musical duo of piano and voice - performing an acoustic set of carefully crafted covers of blues, smooth jazz, easy listening and classic songs.
Jayne’s soft, gentle vocals are ably matched by Dan Phelps' diverse but sensitive piano style. Their covers range from classics such as ‘Fly Me To The Moon’, ‘Moondance’ and ‘Can’t Help Lovin Dat Man’, to more contemporary songs like 'Yellow’ by Coldplay and ‘Chasing Cars’ by Snow Patrol. Jayne and Dan put their own spin on each piece in an effort to make their lyrics accessible and to keep the audience guessing; will it be a blues version of ‘Aint No Sunshine’ or a stripped back arrangement of a Bon Jovi song? If you’re looking for light entertainment for a function, event, restaurant or hotel, Jayne and Dan could be the duo you’re looking for.
Please see bottom of the repertoire for the duo set list.

Beautiful addition to our special day!
Chloe D booked Dan John for their Wedding in Cornwall • September 2023
“Thank you Dan for playing the piano at our wedding in Cornwall! You were superb from the moment we made contact. Quick and easy communications throughout. We loved your variety/range of music you played and the openness to our additional music requests. All of which were played beautifully. And our guests loved it! We really appreciated your flexibility on the day, especially when our schedule didn't quite flow as smoothly as we'd planned, you had no issues with it and saved the day. Thank you for everything! Robbie & Chloe”
Jessica E booked Dan John for their Wedding in Cardiff • May 2023
“Dan is an exeptional pianist- every song was played beautifully. He learned and played a few personal favourites of ours during our ceremony and drinks reception too which really made our wedding day extra special. There was a spontaneous change of setup for our reception and Dan was very accommodating! If you're thinking of booking a pianist for your wedding- we can't recommend him enough!”

Having Dan play at mam's celebration just made it an even more beautiful evening
Alison H booked Dan John for their event
“Dan played at my mother's 80th birthday celebration. We were able to choose pieces that Mam would recognise. Dan even learnt a piece that Mam used to play years ago. Having Dan play at mam's celebration just made it an even more beautiful evening”
Katie booked Dan John for their Wedding
“Dan John was absolutely wonderful! He played beautifully for 3 hours on my wedding day during the ceremony and the following drinks reception. He incorporated songs I asked for from his extensive repertoire, and he even learned 2 songs that I wanted during the ceremony. He was excellent at correspondence and generally a delight to deal with, I couldn't recommend him more!”
