One of the foremost cellists in Scottish traditional style, Celtic Cello has played at numerous prestigious events including for Sir Paul McCartney, Ronald Reagan, Ronan Keating and Ewan McGregor. She can play with exciting, toe tapping rhythmic grooves as well as with the rich, smooth, sonorous tones more normally associated with the cello.
Performances can be entirely acoustic but the addition of a looping pedal allows greater breadth and variety as accompaniments can be added to the melody meaning the effect is that of a two or three piece band. Celtic Cello also plays a 6 string electric cello which can be included as part of an evening concert set.
Seylan of Celtic Cello was the first ever cellist in Europe to graduate in traditional music and she also studied Scots song. She graduated from the Royal Scottish Conservatoire in 2007. Since then she has been a full time professional gigging musician. She has toured worldwide, recently in Europe, UK, Canada and Australia. She has performed at festivals such as Glastonbury and Celtic Connections and at a huge variety of venues from intimate house concerts to concert halls and ampitheatres.
Please note: Celtic Cello cannot normally confirm bookings more than 3-6 months in advance because of a busy touring schedule. She is, however, very open to last minute enquiries.
