Full Biography
Big hair. Bigger anthems. One seriously good 80s show.
Step back into the decade of neon, power ballads, stadium-sized choruses and guitar solos that had absolutely no intention of being subtle.
80s Brightlights is a high-energy, four-piece 80s tribute band bringing the decade’s biggest rock, pop and power anthems back to life with powerhouse lead vocals, electrifying live guitar and the kind of stage presence that turns an audience into a singalong choir.
This isn’t an 80s playlist played by a standard party band. 80s Brightlights has been built specifically around the songs that made the decade enormous: the soaring vocals, unmistakable riffs and hands-in-the-air choruses of artists including Bon Jovi, Toto, Queen, Tina Turner, Journey, Heart, Prince, Fleetwood Mac, Michael Jackson, George Michael, Eurythmics, Bryan Adams, Blondie and Cher.
Expect Africa. Livin’ on a Prayer. Don’t Stop Believin’. Simply the Best. Purple Rain. Summer of ’69. A full Queen medley. And plenty more songs where suddenly everyone in the room discovers they know every single word.
An 80s tribute with proper live-band credentials
At the heart of 80s Brightlights are Laura and Brian, a husband-and-wife musical partnership whose chemistry has been developing on stage for more than a decade. Laura supplies the huge lead vocals demanded by songs from the likes of Heart, Tina Turner and Roxette, while Brian brings the guitar-driven edge needed to do justice to the rockier side of the decade. The act was established in 2013 and has since clocked up more than 1,000 performances worldwide, with its musicians bringing over 15 years of professional performance experience to the stage.
That experience shows in the places they have performed. Highlights include the Isle of Wight Festival, London’s Camden Roundhouse and performances at sea for Virgin Voyages, alongside corporate events, weddings, festivals, private celebrations and major live productions around the UK and internationally.
It also means customers aren’t simply booking musicians who know the songs. They’re booking performers who know how to pace a show, read a crowd and take a room from the opening number to a full dance floor.
What does 80s Brightlights sound like?
The repertoire goes straight for the good stuff.
There’s the polished pop of George Michael, Belinda Carlisle and Fleetwood Mac, the synth-driven sound of Eurythmics and Erasure, the huge voices of Heart, Tina Turner and Cher, and the arena-rock side of the decade with Bon Jovi, Queen, Bryan Adams and Journey.
The result is a set with plenty of variety without losing its identity. Rather than leaning heavily into novelty songs or predictable function-band standards, 80s Brightlights concentrates on floor-filling classics, power anthems and songs people genuinely want to sing at the top of their lungs. One previous wedding client specifically praised the repertoire for being packed with dance-floor favourites while avoiding the “cheesy wedding band” numbers they had heard elsewhere.
Sets can be performed as either 2 x 60 minutes or one seamless 90-minute show, giving organisers flexibility around the running order of their event.
Neon attitude without becoming an 80s fancy-dress parody
Visually, 80s Brightlights takes its cues from the confidence and excess of the decade rather than turning the stage into a collection of novelty wigs.
Think neon colour, leather, sparkle, rock-star swagger and unapologetically big performance energy. The band describes the look as taking the most stylish and vibrant elements of the era and combining them with their own rock-and-roll personas. Guests are more than welcome to join in too, whether that means a little glitter or the full leg-warmers-and-spandex treatment.
The atmosphere is playful, colourful and nostalgic, but the musicianship underneath it is taken seriously.
Where does 80s Brightlights work best?
80s Brightlights is particularly well suited to events where the entertainment needs to become a focal point rather than background music.
They’re an obvious fit for 80s-themed events and parties, but the show also works brilliantly for corporate celebrations, awards evenings, conferences, weddings, festivals, club nights, Christmas parties, university events, large private parties and venues wanting a ready-made ticketed tribute night.
For weddings and private celebrations, that means a recognisable repertoire capable of bringing several generations onto the same dance floor. For corporate events, it means a polished live production with enough spectacle to hold a large audience. For festivals, clubs and public events, the instantly recognisable material gives the band the ability to connect quickly with a crowd.
Their track record reflects that versatility: previous bookings and testimonials include events at North Cadbury Court, Great Fosters, Whittlebury Park, Styal Lodge, Cain Manor, Wickwoods Country Club and the Hyatt Regency, as well as repeat bookings for companies including Aico Ltd and Blue Diamond Ltd.
Booking 80s Brightlights
Different events need very different levels of production, so 80s Brightlights can scale from a self-contained band setup to a complete show with dancers, screens, lighting, staging and crew.
Abracadabra — the self-contained live show
For weddings, private parties and smaller venues of up to approximately 300 guests, Abracadabra keeps things simple. You get the four-piece 80s Brightlights band together with their own professional 4000-watt QSC PA system and sound-to-light stage lighting.
It’s the ideal option when you want the full live-band experience without bringing in a separate production company. The band arrives with the core equipment needed to transform the room and get the party moving.
Sweet Dreams — band plus your existing production
Already have professional sound, lighting or staging at your venue? Sweet Dreams is designed to plug 80s Brightlights into an existing production setup.
The package includes the four-piece band and sound engineer, with the option to add dancers, a DJ and even pyrotechnics where appropriate. It’s especially useful for festivals, corporate venues, theatres and larger event spaces where technical infrastructure is already in place.
Because the production can be adapted around what the venue already provides, it also gives organisers more freedom to tailor the show around their creative plans and budget.
Purple Rain — the full 80s Brightlights production
For events that need to look every bit as big as they sound, Purple Rain turns the performance into a complete production.
Alongside the four-piece band, the package includes two dancers, a pre- and post-show DJ and full audio-visual and staging production, covering sound and lighting design, video screens, staging, rigging and crew. Additional dancers and pyrotechnics can also be incorporated.
This is the option for major corporate events, festivals, large venues and organisers who want 80s Brightlights to arrive as a finished headline show rather than simply a band on a stage.
What can you expect on the night?
First and foremost: a lot of singing.
80s Brightlights is built around those rare songs capable of turning hundreds of individual guests into one enormous chorus. The opening riffs are familiar within seconds, the choruses are huge, and the set moves between rock, pop, synth and power ballads without allowing the energy to disappear.
Behind that apparent spontaneity is a very experienced live act. Previous clients repeatedly highlight the band's professionalism, musicianship, vocals and ability to keep a dance floor full, with several going on to book them for repeat annual events.
So whether you want four musicians to walk into a wedding and ignite the evening reception, or a fully produced 80s spectacular complete with dancers, screens and lighting, the objective is the same:
make the room feel like the biggest night out of 1987.
80s Brightlights — 1,000+ shows, more than a decade on stage and zero bad hair days. Well… almost.
