Vehicle Breakdown Recovery Warning
If you breakdown en-route to a gig and are unable to perform due to not having a relevant breakdown recovery policy, you could be liable for breach of contract for 'failure to take preventive action' (see 'Force Majeure' clause). We strongly suggest you take out a National Relay Breakdown Policy with an established company like The AA so that you never risk missing a gig.

The AA offer a decent National Relay Package for only £100 a year.
The AA's 'Relay' option ensures that if they can't fix your car / van at the side of the road, they'll tow you to the gig!

* If you break down in a van, often the roadside assistance vehicle sent to 'check out the problem' isn't a vehicle capable of towing you to your gig if the problem can't be fixed, and therefore you'll need to wait even longer for an appropriate tow truck to be sent. Unless you know for sure that the reason you've broken down can be fixed roadside (flat tyre / run out of diesil etc) it's worth requesting upfront that they send you a tow option right away so that you can definately get to your gig on time.
Also, if you breakdown enroute to a gig, please remember to keep Alive Network, the client and the venue up to date with what's going on. Our out-of-hours emergency mobile number is on all your contracts. If you can;t speak tot he client (they'll probably have their phone switched off) call the venue and they can keep the client informed if they feel it's worth worrying them.
The screen grab below (taken 18th March 2016) shows the policy overview based on covering one person as a driver or passenger in any vehicle.
