Jeanet Ostergaard threw a surprise party for her parents to celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary on Friday 27th May at the Holiday Inn in Kingston-Upon-Thames, Surrey. She booked gold award Tom Jones tribute act, The Voice Of Tom Jones, to provide the evening's entertainment.

What party were you organising, and who was it for?
I organised a surprise golden wedding anniversary party for my parents. They are originally from Denmark but now live in the UK, so there were quite a few guests flying over from Denmark for it.
Where did your party take place, and why did you choose that venue?
The party was held at the Holiday Inn in Kingston-upon-Thames. I chose this hotel as it is relatively new, sits on the river Thames, and has a good pub across the road. All of the guests from Denmark had booked to stay there for the night, which made it very convenient for them. The food at the hotel was great, and the staff extremely helpful with creating menus and table plans.
Did you have a specific theme or format for your party?
When it came to party ideas, there wasn’t a specific theme for the party, but there were certain traditions I tried to accommodate - one of those being a brass band to wake the couple up at 8.00 am! Unfortunately, none of the brass bands I contacted had the inclination to play that early in the morning, so I booked a very nice piper instead who was extremely accommodating.
Please tell us about the entertainment you booked through Alive Network, and why you chose that artist
I booked The Voice Of Tom Jones, a Tom Jones tribute act, to provide the evening’s entertainment at the party because my mum has always been a Tom Jones fan.
Please tell us about the performance, and the impact it had on your event
Everybody loved The Voice Of Tom Jones's performance, even my husband who doesn’t like Tom Jones was singing along. Quite a few people commented that The Voice Of Tom Jones's voice was miles better than the real thing! It was great to have The Voice Of Tom Jones there. He was so good that everybody got up to dance. Without him, it would have just been another sit down dinner.
What other suppliers/services did you use, and please provide commentary on any you feel were particularly notable.
The logistics of getting everybody to and from the airport, and to my parent's house for breakfast on the morning of the party was handled by three local taxi companies - Cathie's Cars, A to B, and PR Cars. All were very helpful, and on time.
In your own words please describe the stand-out moments of the party
I think the best part of the day was the piper and the guests from Denmark waking my parents up. They had absolutely no idea that would happen! This was closely followed by The Voice Of Tom Jones who made the evening different, and entertaining.
