Joe and Amy Webb's Perfect Wedding

Joe and Amy Webb's Perfect Wedding

& Perfect Wedding Entertainment!

Joe and Amy Webb opted for a private wedding on a beach in Jamaica, and held a wedding blessing almost a year later so they could celebrate it with friends and family. Their wedding blessing took place at breathtaking Dragon Hall in Norwich on Saturday 11th June, and they booked solo guitarist and vocalist J Andrew Guitar to entertain guests during the evening.

The live wedding entertainment made the day, and was one of my favourite parts. We scoured the internet listening to sound bites of so many entertainers who mostly sounded cheesy and like bad copies of famous singers, but the best thing about J Andrew Guitar is that he sings songs his way and he has an amazing tone to his voice.

Where did your wedding take place, why did you choose that venue, and how big was your wedding party?

We got married in Jamaica, just the two of us, so we decided to have a wedding blessing so all of our family and friends could celebrate with us at Dragon Hall in Norwich, almost a year later.

We picked Dragon Hall because it is breathtaking with its floor to ceiling glass gallery room, stone floors, and views of the gardens. The grand hall upstairs with its wooden beams and medieval charm was hard to top.

It wasn’t the easiest option to pick as it operates as a museum during the week, so we had to hire everything in from the mobile bar and wedding entertainment, to the caterers. It was so worth it though, and although they offer the services of an events management company we decided to do everything ourselves.

It also allowed us to have the venue on an exclusive basis for our party of 100 and hold our blessing service outside, which was a nod to our 2010 beach wedding.

Did you have a theme for your wedding, and what sort of look and feel did you want to create?

We were keen not to try and recreate our wedding day so agreed not to repeat anything we had done in Jamaica. Therefore, there was no cutting of the cake and we said commitment vows rather than repeating those we had already taken.

Like in Jamaica though, we wanted a day that was relaxed, informal and fun. We opted for a theme of white with an accent of black, as we wanted to keep things simple and not too fussy.

Little did we know how well this would turn out - on the day the garden was in full bloom with all white flowers, something we didn’t realise when we booked!

We started the day with a late outdoor ceremony taking place at 5.00 pm. As we walked back down the aisle waiters served bucks fizz and we posed for photographs.

My brother was our photographer and understood that we didn’t want many formal photos and preferred the more “capture the moment” pictures, so it wasn’t long before we made our way upstairs for food.

We had a served starter, were invited up to help ourselves to a buffet for main course, and dessert was a huge selection of home made cakes served on platters in the centre of each table. I have a very sweet tooth!!!

My husband Joe kicked off the speeches followed by my dad, and both went down a storm!

We then made our way downstairs where solo singer guitarist J Andrew Guitar had managed to set up and sound check without us even realising.

We had chosen Beautiful by James Blunt as our first dance, and as J Andrew Guitar sang many people commented that if you closed your eyes it could have been James Blunt himself singing!

This was followed by lots of dancing in the gallery as J Andrew Guitar performed two solo vocal sets and DJ'ed in between.

How big an impact did live entertainment have on your wedding day and would you recommend it to others?

The live wedding entertainment made the day, and was one of my favourite parts. We scoured the internet listening to sound bites of so many entertainers who mostly sounded cheesy and like bad copies of famous singers, but the best thing about J Andrew Guitar is that he sings songs his way and he has an amazing tone to his voice.

It is incredible how one song can pull everyone on to the dance floor and the impact just isn’t the same from pre-recorded music.

What were your favourite moments of the day?

I would struggle to pick a favourite moment as the whole day was perfect, but one thing I really loved was that as we danced the night away we could see guests mingling outside in the beautiful weather because the wall was floor to ceiling glass! I also thought it was fantastic that J Andrew Guitar played the guitar during his singing sets. He is a proper musical talent!

What pearls of wisdom or words of advice would you extend to future brides/grooms who are planning their perfect wedding?

We tried to be really relaxed about the day and we didn’t even pick our first dance song until a few weeks before (which J Andrew Guitar helped us with). We decided not to give J Andrew a list of songs that we wanted him to play and this worked perfectly as he played something for everyone, and there wasn’t one person there that wasn’t on the dance floor at some point. With the age range going from a few months old to well over 90 this was no easy task! It also meant that J Andrew Guitar sang songs he was good at and enjoyed, and it always comes out in an artist’s performance if they are having fun!

I'd also say that there are some fantastic wedding traditions across all different religions and countries but don’t get too carried away trying to stick to them. You only get to do it once (twice in my case!) so make sure you do it your way as the day reflects the type of couple you are.

We had chosen Beautiful by James Blunt as our first dance, and as J Andrew Guitar sang many people commented that if you closed your eyes it could have been James Blunt himself singing! He is a proper musical talent.
