We all enjoy music. That's a fact.

From hymns in assembly at primary school, to your first ever gig; your first Glastonbury, the wedding band on your special day, to watching the legends you loved years ago with your kids. Or as simple as the music in the car on an epic road trip, or the song you listen to on your iPod when you're at the top of a mountain! Music bonds experiences to memories which last a life time and when you hear that song, the memories come flooding back.

Our very own Charleston Swingers have recently been involved in a truly beautiful charity. In partnership with ITV and The National Lottery, Charleston Swingers have taken part in the Music In Hospitals (#1MusicInHospitals) project. 

The charity's goal is simple, "to improve the quality of life for adults and children with all kinds of illness and disability through the joy and therapeutic benefits of professionally performed live music in hospitals, hospices, day care centres, special schools, nursing and residential homes." As well as providing such amazing support through musical therapy, the charity simultaneously provides a network for professional musicians to circuit, and meet other like-minded, kind hearted musicians. 

This charity has seen first-hand what live music can do to positively impact the mental health and general wellbeing of those who suffer from physical pain, depression, anxiety and stress. Live music also helps speed up recovery, with reports of reductions in medication for very ill patients as a result of live music reducing people's perception of pain.
