Never failing to impress their audiences The Rivers Acoustic Duo have proved themselves to be a high quality live acoustic act since 2005.
As a result of their talent and outstanding reputation The Rivers were featured in the January/February 2008 edition of Britain's best selling 'Brides' magazine appearing as the South East's number one wedding duo.
As well as performing events through Alive Network, The Rivers also maintain residencies in bars and clubs throughout London and the South East as well as undertaking regular tours of Switzerland. These tours see them perform all over Switzerland including Zurich Bern and Basel to name a few. They first visited Switzerland in July 2004 when they performed as Hanger Lane at the Blue Balls Festival in Luzern.
The Rivers began in West London after members Dave O'Callaghan and Dick Coulson began performing together whilst studying for their respective degrees. After successfully obtaining residencies in three different London bars the pair decided to go professional in Summer 2005.
The sound of the duo has been compared to the vibe of the MTV unplugged series. They achieve a feeling of cool originality through their cover versions of popular party songs.
Comprising of piano and acoustic guitar/vocal the duo's sound is warm and acoustic yet surprisingly full and rich. Vocalist and guitarist Dave credits his musical involvement to the 'britpop' revival of the mid nineties and his discovery of Paul Weller and Ocean Colour Scene. His musical interest grew deeper and he would now list many roots blues players and West Coast folk musicians such as Robert Johnson Neil Young and Jackson Brown as his musical influences.
Dick Coulson a classically trained pianist and composer began playing piano at the age of 9 and credits boogie woogie rock and roll to his introduction to music and performance. Dick pays tribute to Jerry Lee Lewis Ray Charles and Jools Holland as major influences on his technique and taste in musical performance.
The Rivers have extensive experience in providing live entertainment and pride themselves on their professional approach flexible attitude and enthusiastic performance. "I found booking through Alive Network an easy and safe process. I was able to browse through a selection of bands at my budget and select the one I liked. Clare from Alive Network was really friendly and helpful and answered all my questions.
The Rivers were fantastic, very friendly and professional. Everybody at the party commented on how great they were and how much they enjoyed there music. I would definitely book them again for another party. They really made my dads birthday. "

"The Rivers were fantastic at our wedding: they played a great selection of music that had our guests up and dancing from the start, and many of them commented on how good the performance was. They chose their playlist really well, and we enjoyed their original interpretations of some classic songs. The band were really friendly, and their positive attitude came through in their performance. On the night and prior to the event we found them to be relaxed and professional, and we were also pleased with the service from Alive Network, which was always prompt and helpful."

"The Rivers were absolutely faultless at our wedding reception. They were highly professional, yet relaxed and informal. They got on with everything without needing to intrude in any way. We didn't have to worry at all. They skillfully matched their service to the atmosphere and were great with our guests. They sounded like a much larger band, rather than a duo.
