"There are bands and then there are The Fabulations.
Music was top of the list of priorities for my wedding (May 2011) so we did a LOT of research to try and find the right band. We went to see The Fabulations at The Crypt, St Martin’s in the Fields, danced the entire night (as did Mum) and were 100% sold.
But we were still completely overwhelmed by the performance at our wedding. I have never been to an event when so many people danced for so long. From tiny 80+ Grandmas to uni and school pals – everyone loved them. The dance floor was a pulsating sweaty arena until the wee small hours and the phrase I keep hearing is ‘awesome wedding – WHO was that band?!’
I am recommending them to anyone I know, purely selfishly because I cannot wait to see them perform again. Marion is a legend and was fully part of the ‘wedding planning team’ – I cannot thank them all enough for truly making our wedding day so memorable.

With a repertoire ranging from Ella Fitzgerald to Aretha Franklin, The Fabulations are one of those rare bands who are equally at home performing jazz/swing classics from the 40s and 50s soul and disco anthems or recent chart hits. How do they do it? Simply by being exceptionally talented musicians who have studied hard, practised hard and honed their skills by working with a feast of top names in the world of jazz and soul.
Fronting this six-piece band is vocalist Marion J whose voice can move effortlessly from sultry dinner jazz to floor-filling dance numbers. More than just a gifted vocalist Marion is also an exceptionally hard-working entertainer who can rapidly build a close rapport with the audience. The rest of this sparkling band consists of guitar/sax/vocals, keyboards, female backing vocalist (not in their photo), bass and drums. An additional saxophone and trumpet can also be added on request.
Members of the Fabulations have played with many leading Jazz musicians such as Alan Skidmore, George Shearing and Tony Coe and have been spotted recently playing at the Queen Elizabeth Hall and the Scoop on London's South Bank as well as well known London Nightspots such as Sway in Covent Garden and the world famous Ronnie Scotts.

We were looking for a band to play in the evening who would be good to listen to and also help create a good atmosphere and encourage people to dance.
I saw the Fabulations first with friends, playing a Jazz set at St Martins in the Fields and we were blown away by the skill of the musicians and Marion’s amazing voice. Seeing them later at Sway with my fiancé Rob, doing more of a funky disco type set really clinched it. Even after a hard day at work we couldn’t resist getting up to dance. As well as some great classics, songs they played included more recent hits and I would be surprised if many of the artists who recorded these could match Marion’s voice live. Also, Marion’s personality and ability to get the audience involved made it a very special night.
In preparation for the big day Marion and Chris took time to find out what we wanted, chatted on the phone and Marion even made a tape to play between sets.
On the big day itself, we couldn’t have asked for more. Everyone had a fantastic time and the band played with such energy, even skipping a break to finish on time. Even some of those people who will never be dragged onto the dance floor gave in and the warmth of the band fitted exactly with the kind of fun, friendly atmosphere we wanted to create.
We felt so privileged to have such talented people perform at our wedding and were touched that they did so without putting on any airs or graces, with genuine commitment to a good product and to making our day special. Jane Hannon and Robert Domrose

As for testimonials, we would both heartily recommend you to anyone who wants to get the whole wedding party dancing from grannies to teens! We had such an amazing day and you all really rounded it out with your fantastic repertoire. The girl who sang our first dance (I'm sorry I forget her name) did such a lovely rendition of Dream a Little Dream that whenever we hear it now we always smile, and it takes us right back to the day. I understand that some friends of ours will also be using you for their wedding, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to a friend at any time in the future.

"I just had to email to say how absolutely amazing you were on Saturday night!
We had such an amazing time at the party, a large part due to The Fabulations! Everyone was commenting on how fabulous you all were - you certainly got everyone up dancing (even a lady with a broken hip!!!).

I just wanted to drop you a line to say thank you so much to you and the rest of the band for the music at our wedding at Cain Manor. We had such a wonderful day and the evening music was fantastic.
We have had so many compliments on the band - great live music and created a really brilliant atmosphere!
I've never been at a wedding where so many people are continuously dancing all night....it was exactly the party atmosphere that we were looking for!!
If we have another party in the future, I would have no hesitation to book the band again and I will certainly be recommending the band to anyone I know who is looking for live music!

Thank you so much for everything you did on our wedding, you and the band were absolutely brilliant, everyone's been telling us how much fun they had, especially Richards dad who was grooving most the night, oh and Crissy and Rachael who were singing in your mic at the end of the night and asked to be backing singers!!
Crissy & I have already said we'll come up and watch you all play up in London when you do some gigs too.

"Just wanted to say thanks so much for a fantastic performance at the wedding!
I know we didn't get chance to speak much before the wedding, but being a typical man I didn't get involved with the organising! But I knew she'd made the perfect choice when I first heard you perform!
You absolutely made the evening for me and the atmosphere was fantastic! We were both so excited for you to start that we skipped cutting the cake so we could hit the dancefloor!
Also, I wanted to ask you if there was any chance you could do a CD for us with all the songs you performed at the wedding? I'll happily pay for it so just let me know how much. The evening went so quickly and with all the booze consumed feels like a blur so I'd like to hear them all again!

"Helen and I would like to thank The Fabulations for such a great finale to our wedding at the Hanbury Manor!!
Helen had seen the band play twice before at St Martins in the Fields in London and was so impressed with their live performance that she wanted to have them as our wedding band.
Our first song was played and sung so beautifully I thought Alicia Keys was there herself.
The music was fantastic and really got everyone on their feet dancing the night away. From Frank Sinatra to Sergio Mendes to funky grooves it really hit the spot.
Marion has such a great personality and she really knows how to get a crowd going - and keep them there! She was very helpful in selecting the songs for the night to reflect our tastes and age group.
Even now the guests are still talking about the band. Once again thank you for such a memorable end to our wedding day.

"We just wanted to write and thank you again for the wonderful performance from yourself and the Fabulations at our wedding at the Cisswood House Hotel on December 27th.
You helped create a really special atmosphere which we shall never forget. We were also very touched by The Fabulations fantastic live rendition of 'Let's get it on' for our first dance.
Many of our friends and family commented on the quality of your performance and your professionalism.

"Being a bride who had planned everything in detail, that also meant giving a lot of thought to the music! The Fabulations were really accommodating all the way through the process. Being a busy bride, phone calls, texts and emails were a great way to keep in contact with Marion and agree the plan for the night. This gave us such reassurance as we knew how the night was going to go and could plan everything in advance with them.
We wanted to play our own CD's during the bands break and they advised how we could best do this. On the night there were a few technical difficulties with our own CD's and they also helped solve this, when they didn't need to as they had plenty of back up tunes with them!
Our wedding was on New Year's Eve and at midnight the band let off giant party poppers for us across the dance floor, they did a great new year count down and added in extra personal parts for us that we wanted. Whether we told them 4 weeks or 4 minutes in advance, they were willing to make it as fun and personal as possible for us. They really went the extra mile for us and we are really grateful.
Alive Network was really profressional but always felt accessible and friendly. There are a great range of bands available and I found them very helpful on advising. Info and examples were quick to come through and everything was clear. I would definitely use them again.
