Line up: 10 Piece Band: Female Lead Vocals; Male Lead Vocals; 2 x Female Vocals; Bass; Lead Guitar; Trumpet; Saxophone; Drums; Piano/ Organ. As an 11 or 12 piece we add another singer or brass. We can go out as a 6-9 piece. As a 6 piece we will have one singer and one brass.

The Band
Formed in 2005 the 10-piece Soul Citizen are putting the soul back into soul music. Unlike many soul covers bands who throw modern approximations at classic songs Soul Citizen refuse to compromise and offer a musical style faithful to the original songs with all the spirit heart and soul that goes with it.
Fine vocalists capture the quality and spirit of the artists of the time; the basslines are crafted as if to be performed for James Jamerson himself; the breathtaking brass section evoke memories of the excitement of that era. With compelling pianos and organs and simply stunning guitar licks Soul Citizen are an outstanding soul band

Bernadette Bishop - lead vocalist
Bernadette is an outstanding vocalist and her take of 'Natural Woman' makes you wonder if she'd sung the original. She joins the band with a degree in performing arts and experience of singing in Europe and the States. One in a million.

Eliot Carroll - Lead Vocalist
The newest member of the band Eliot brings a smooth soulful quality to the lead vocals and combines beautifully with Bernie's voice for the duets. Media darling by day soul-inspired gentleman rogue by night.

Fola Munis - Backing Vocalist
South Londoner Fola is a project manager by day, but what she delivers best is a total soul performance that takes the band to a different level. Fola is also an accomplished footballer.

Emma Burford - Backing Vocalist
Working closely with Fola to bring the colour to the vocal sound that the genre demands, Emma is a vocal technician with a great ear for the harmonies that make the band's vocal performance. Born in Chatham but claims to be from Rochester, Kent!

Mark Ashby - Bass
The band leader and provides the vision and drive that have taken the band to the levels it has reached. Mark works tirelessly to bring his bass performance closer and closer to the great James Jamerson who so defined that Motown sound.

John Henry Lygo - Guitars
A wonderfully versatile guitarist who can also play the bass and keyboards, John is hugely popular all over London for his great performance. A part-time boxer who works in the Financial sector.

Colin Graham - Trumpet
The most experienced musician in the band, "Thunder" has performed with the very greats in the soul genre before joining up with Soul Citizen. Still in regular demand for his outstanding talent on the trumpet, Colin runs his own music production company.

Paul Hodkinson - Saxophone
An editor by day, a jazz musician at heart. Paul's saxophone performances are the highlight of many gigs and the quality of playing alongside Colin makes the Soul Citizen sound.

Benjamin Burton - Drums
A band is only as good as its drummer, and Benjamin is one reason that Soul Citizen can be as good as they are. Wowing the band at audition by taking drumming to a new level, he commands his own solos at performances and keeps the band in timing tow.

Rich Pemberton - Pianos and Organs
Rich, a founder member of the band, is an accomplished jazz musician hailing from South East London. His sleight of hand, his prestidigitation, will make you wonder if he's actually just pressed the demo button on the keyboard. .
