Night and Day is highly recommended

"Alive Network and Night and Day were both fantastic! AN were always at hand to answer any queries. Night and Day were sensational! They were happy to play our requested first dance, gave us a mixture of sets to suit all ages, were friendly and fun, got along with everyone on the day and were brilliant with children's requests! Will definitely recommend to others and hopefully will have an event that we can use them for again!!!"

Night and Day is a unique and highly-versatile act that will cater for every aspect of your event - organ recitals at the wedding service, cocktail jazz or classical piano at the drinks reception, jazz standards during dinner and lively rock and pop classics for dancing in the evening.

The Rock & Pop band - consisting of keyboards, drums and bass - incorporates classic tracks from Elvis, Everly Brothers, Beatles, Beach Boys and Elton John right through to the The Killers, Keane, Snow Patrol, REM and Robbie Williams. A small format with a big sound, this trio has something for everyone but without the loud guitars - perfect for venues that have volume restrictions.

The Jazz Band is the perfect backdrop for your evening meal or cocktail reception. Relax to timeless classics from Sinatra, Gershwin, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin and Nat King Cole to name just a few. This band is available to provide background dinner jazz or Sinatra style jazz great for dancing to - this Sinatra option may also be booked for the "Evening Only" package.

The Pianist is one of the most highly regarded players in the business. Johnny will perform jazz standards with or without vocals or classical music if preferred. If required he can even play organ recitals during the service.

Please ask your agent about timing requirements as the band are completely flexible to your needs and will play anything up to 3 and half hours of music throughout the day.

Night and Day is comprised of three highly professional musicians:

Johnny- Piano and Vocals -
John appears on piano and vocals and has over a decade of performing experience having played in various jazz and pop function bands including a stint as a pianist in the Midland Jazz Youth Orchestra and two years performing aboard ships for Princess Cruises of the USA. He is an extremely accomplished player who is at ease with any musical situation.

Richard- Drums and Vocals -
Born and bred in Gloucester, Richard took up drums at the age of 13. Soon he was performing around the county with various local jazz and rock ensembles. After completing his A-levels he was accepted to study on the Jazz Degree course at Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama where he was trained by Peter Fairclough, Clarke Tracey, Martin France and Elliot Bennett. Training involved extensive study of Jazz, Blues and Cuban/Brazilian music. Richard graduated with honours in July 2005. Since then he has been performing, touring and recording throughout the UK with many groups and artists from The Welsh Jazz Composers Orchestra to Keith Tippett.

Peter- Electric and Double Bass -
Peter is a professional musician currently based in Gloucester and Cheltenham. He has played with two leading national Big Bands; the National Youth Jazz Orchestra and Midland Youth Jazz Orchestra. He has also performed with famous artists including Lilian Bote (The Ambassador of New Orleans), Bonnie Tyler, Charlotte Church, Keith Tippett and Julian Jacobson.

He has performed in over 2000 performances in his professional career to date including several Royal performances, numerous festivals and a large number of musicals and highly prestigious events. Peter has been on numerous tours with groups and companies, most recently performing in Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2003 and 2004 and Cheltenham Jazz Festival 2004, 2006-2009.

He balances life as a professional musician and music educator, a classroom Music Teacher in secondary school and as a private instrumental teacher and tutor. He is also a lead tutor for the Cheltenham Rock School course. His commitments as a musician range from the "Night and Day", the Crescendo Big Band, freelance session work and his own Trio/Quartet. He has directed the Gloucestershire Youth Jazz Orchestra for Gloucestershire Music Jazz Live since September 2006.

Night and Day also now offer the option of a guitarist to enhance their sound (audio available soon);

Guitarist Steve has considerable experience of playing a wide variety of musical styles. He is a graduate of the Leeds College of Music (where he was awarded the jazz guitar prize), and has played at major British festivals including Womad, Glastonbury and Sidmouth as a member of the African/Jazz fusion group ‘Baraka’. He has also played in Europe with the Michael Roach Band, and the Patsy Gamble Band.

As a solo performer, Steve has played at the Gloucester and Upton Blues and Cheltenham Jazz Festivals, and with various bands at venues throughout the U.K., playing all kinds of music. He has also played in theatre productions at the West Yorkshire Playhouse and the Wyvern Theatre.

Night and Day

"Alive Network and Night and Day were both fantastic! AN were always at hand to answer any queries. Night and Day were sensational! They were happy to play our requested first dance, gave us a mixture of sets to suit all ages, were friendly and fun, got along with everyone on the day and were brilliant with children's requests! Will definitely recommend to others and hopefully will have an event that we can use them for again!!!"

"We booked the band for our wedding and are very pleased that we did so. The agent and the band were very professional. I spoke to John before hand to request particular tracks from their set list and he was happy to accommodate which was lovely.

The afternoon started with drinks on the lawn and John playing the piano in the background. It was just as we imagined it was going to be. All the band members seemed really friendly and approachable and were excellent musicians and entertainers. Their music appealed to all age groups and everyone enjoyed them even the youngsters (we have some wonderful pictures of them playing the drums) .

The dance floor was absolutely packed - it was brilliant and we'll remember those last few dances for a very, very long time . Many thanks to the band for making a it a truly special occasion."

"Overall the experience was great. The band can make or break an evening wedding celebration with their selection of music and approach. Night and Day kept everyone dancing and united all of the guests.

Alive network were really helpful and responded to questions/queries quickly, as well as providing telephone contacts. Would use them again when organizing an event!"

Night and Day

"Alive Network were very easy to deal with and had a website that was easy to navigate around and find exactly what we wanted. Communication via phone or email was generally constructive and successful.

Night and Day were brilliant. I spoke to John from the band prior to the event and he made me feel assured we had the right band. They turned up at the venue in plenty of time and were very organised and approachable.

The set lists were excellent; they got the acoustics right in the room. They made the evening much easier for my new wife and I by making the announcements on the night regarding the food, speeches, cake cutting etc...

Could you please extend my thanks to Night and Day for their significant contribution to making it a fantastic evening.

Regards,

John Foster
