Mexteca are very proud of their well known reputation as not only being the best Mariachi in the UK but also the only truly authentic one.
The name "Mexteca" for the band comes from a fusion of old and new -"Mexico" and "Azteca" ( Azteca being Spanish for "Aztec" an ancient Mexican civilisation and culture ).
The Director of Mariachi Mexteca Salvador Jimenez Hernandez was born in the large and bustling city of Guadalajara Jalisco Mexico the birth place of the Mariachi.
At the tender age of seven he started to learn the guitar and vihuela under the watchful eye of his father who was a composer and singer of Mariachi / Ranchero music.
In 1980 he entered the School of Music at the University of Guadalajara specialising in Mariachi instruments and vocals and has since played with various groups of Mariachis developing his skills as a singer and musician.
His music took him away from his roots to Asia where he lived for a few years in Hong Kong playing with a Mariachi band there in Macau and also China however in the year 2000 he moved to the UK taking his talent and music with him where he currently plays in his Mariachi band MARIACHI MEXTECA which he formed in 2002 in London.
Salvador is the lead vocalist and plays several instruments including the guitarron vihuela guitar and accordion.
The other band members are experienced professional musicians from Mexico and other Latino American countries all of whom have strong Mariachi backgrounds coming from families of Mariachi Musicians.

"Nick at Alive Network was friendly and helpful. Alive Network provided the perfect band for our Wedding celebrations.
Mariachi Mexteca were beyond our expectations and were simply fantastic, we just wished we had booked them for a longer period of time if we had know how good they were going to be and realised that our guests really enjoyed the music.
Our wedding day was special but Mariachi Mextecca and Nick at Alive Network made the day extra special. We recommend to anyone and everyone. Thank you so, so much."

"A massive thank you to Alive Network and to Mariachi Mexteca for making our wedding day an unforgettable event. All our guests loved Mariachi Mexteca and really enjoyed their music and entertainment throughout the day.
A special thank you to Salvador Jimenez Hernandez for all his help before and during our special day. He took the time to contact me prior to the wedding to talk through my wishes for the day, even singing some songs on the phone! :).
He is an exceptional musician and the music played on the day was perfect in every way. A special mention has been made by all our guest as he played for us as we walked into the wedding ceremony.
We have so many lovely memories from the day. Our friends and family still talk about Mariachi Mexteca nearly a year after our wedding day!
We hope to see them soon again..."

"A huge thank you to you and your team - it was a pleasure to work with such professional and accomplished artists. Your performance was absolutely the best.
I will notify my sister that you will be in Bahrain and send her your email - I know she will want to buy you a drink and say hi when you are over there.
Thanks again for everything, not only the wonderful Mariachi Music - playing the Gypsy Kings and other Latin rhythms - and we all think your version of My Way was even better than the original!!!!
With Best Wishes,
Angie

"“We have used the Mariachi Band of Salvador Jimenez on numerous occasions and the band has been both professional and entertaining on all occasions…..Their quality of music is excellent and I am yet to see an audience that did not find them entertaining or indeed an outlet that did not see the band as an excellent addition to a promotion night..
Corona Extra has no hesitation in recommending the band and end by saying that we are pleased to recommend the band that has always been professional and treat every time they play as a good opportunity to create a party atmosphere and allow people to see and enjoy a small part of Mexico”

"“Don Salvador Jimenez Hernandez has performed with his Mariachi Mexteca in all our events in the UK in the last few years whenever Mariachi music has been required. In all cases they have proved to be an authentic Mariachi band, with a truly original Mexican style, outfit and repertoire.
We have hired Mariachi Mexteca as a band, quartet and trio and in every occasion they have arrived punctually and their artistic performance has been up to what we would expect from a good quality Mariachi group within Mexico.
Therefore we believe that anyone looking for real Mexican music in the UK should not hesitate contacting Don Salvador Jimenez Hernandez and his Mariachi Mexteca.”

The evening was a great success and your music was thoroughly enjoyed by all. I noticed a lot of foot tapping whilst you were going around the tables playing. Please thank the players in the band for providing us with such excellent entertainment- they were certainly events to be remembered and treasured. I have received numerous compliments from the guests who were thrilled and delighted by the bands’ enthusiastic renditions of popular Mexican music”.

"“Just an email to say thank you so much for playing at our wedding and Langdon Court 21st June this year.
We had a fantastic day, in part due to your music, which really got the dancing going – and we have the video to prove it! It was fantastic and so many people thought you were all great. We had special memories of our first dance to “Besame Mucho” and of dancing to La Piragua, La Bamba and all of the other numbers you played……….”
