Andrea Quintarelli (guitarist)'s Biography
Line up: 5 piece band: guitar, bass, drums/percussion, violin
Duo: guitar, violin OR guitar, bass
Unique guitar performance Andrea created his own style travelling around the word blending Latin soul with Balkan and Oriental melodies. His brilliant improvisation fast picking, gypsy feeling and his rich musical international vocabulary, made him a true artist who expresses his musical creativity through his beautiful compositions.
Born in Rome, at the age of 12 Andrea commenced his musical career as a self taught guitarist. He started his career playing in Italian clubs and festivals. After that he went on a long theatre tour called Frankenstein musical with Daniele Silvestri and Tullio Solenghi. In the last years in Italy he mainly played and composed music for television (RAI) non-stop, also playing live all around the country with different musicians, one of these being Jon Bon Jovi for a gig in Rome!
After moving to London, Andrea started performing live in British and worldwide venues with a new instrumental project with an international band, proposing his new original compositions. He wrote soundtracks for short movies and cinema productions.
Andrea’s constant research transpires into his latest CD, Bazaar. The CD came just after his late nineties decision to embark on a journey through Middle East countries. The purpose of his journey was to discover these countries' life styles, and appreciate what he could learn from them. The songs of Bazaar are about colours and people met in markets around the world.
Review of Bazaar A travel around the musical cultures of the Mediterranean Sea area, leaking feelings and sonorous styles through the experience of Andrea who balances classic and electric guitar....Bazaar offers one convincing mix, a musical atmospheric fusion that surprises the listener, making them literally travel between times and harmonically convincing topics. Evocative atmospheres in "Walking in a Market 1, 2, 3 and 4", where the use of contour of the sampler allows Quintarelli to construct sonorous atmospheres..... Amusing citation games in the third episode of the "Market" and in "Albertone"; all to study the sonorous plans with which it has been mixed the guitar electrical worker, ....... One elegant realisation for a naturally advisable album to the lovers of the six Mediterranean ' ropes ', one demonstration of high level musical ability without useless use of lots of notes. To differenciate from othersItalian guitarists, Quintarelli demonstrates having the heart, brain and musical sensitivity without diminishing the relationship with its instrument to one pure note squall. - Enrico Cosimi, Italian Acoustic Magazine, Nov 2004
